Today is Black Friday—an arguably more American tradition than 4th of July fireworks because it centers on the cultural cancer that is materialism. Huge TVs! New laptops to replace our perfectly functional ones! Robots that vacuum our floors so we literally never have to leave the couch! I pledge allegiance to the flag goddamn dystopian nightmare.
With age comes refinement of personal style. For me, that involves taking a quality over quantity approach to shopping. I still like to have fun with my looks, though, which sometimes means succumbing to Le Trend. Fast fashion is problematic on many fronts, but it allows you to buy the iridescent platforms and shag cardigans that you’ll donate in a year without breaking the bank.
