Drinking: Oat milk iced latte from Kayuh Bicycles. I was recently introduced to this place (photo above) by a friend who works in the same neighborhood I do and I’m obsessed. As indicated by the name, it’s a bike shop-café hybrid with a pretty cool story. A 16 oz oat milk iced latte costs over $6 at Bluestone Lane. At Kayuh it’s $4 flat and tastes better.
Eating: A banana with coconut-peanut butter.
Inspired By: Emily Weiss, the founder of Glossier. I’m aware how unseasoned-chicken-cookin-ass basic white girl it is to stan any direct to consumer behemoth of the past decade, but as I contemplate where I want to take broke but moisturized in 2020, it’s worth taking notes from women who’ve built something ubiquitous in the content age. Here’s a loose vision: I want to create a space that fuses accessible taste and narrative story, but doesn’t urge readers to spend their time and money on so much stuff. It feels like most popular women’s blogs focus on acquiring things. I want to capture human experiences which, occasionally, will include the way certain stuff enhances our lives without this inherent preoccupation with materialism and more—living simply, staying curious, and sharing my passion for writing. And I want to get paid to do it! Somehow! Help?
Feeling: Stoked to go home and relax all night. Yesterday I ran 3 miles and went straight to a 90-minute dance class because I knew I had a 6:30 AM start to work today and could use an evening of nothing. My job is hectic right now, and my office is preparing to be down a person, so I’m trying to listen to my body and plan ahead. Forcing myself to limit today’s workout to a leisurely stroll to Trader Joe’s.
