Daily Drip

Listening:  Jhené Aiko’s new album, Chilombo. This project is so distinctly Jhené in how it balances the dark and reflective; the sexual and savage; the light and hippie-dippy. I relate hard to “10k Hours” with Nas as she describes the urgency to make every moment count with a lover after experiencing profound loss. Aiko has written extensively about losing her brother, so I connect with her on that “ya’ll just don’t get it” front.

Feeling: Really happy about some things and really listless about others. I woke up at 6 AM—an hour before my alarm—rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth, and immediately started writing. I think I have a lot in me right now that needs released.

Currently Loving: Forest green. I recently accepted that this is one of my favorite colors to wear and to see on other people. It’s dark and earthy enough to be neutral, but still gives you some beautiful color. I loved the drops from Peace & Quiet this year, like this sold out forest green fleece.

Inspired By: People who drink green juice every damn day. You’re far more equipped for the coronavirus than I, a recently sugar-addicted scumbag. Hoping the chocolate cake I enjoyed this evening was my last for… at least a week. Godspeed.
